After working in corporate America for two decades, Lynn Hartmann felt like she was not giving enough back to the community she loved. She decided to switch gears and become a teacher, where she could touch the lives of the children in her community and have an integral part in their success. Ms. Hartmann has been in the field for 13 years now, and currently serves Aurora Public Schools as a fourth-grade teacher. Her aim is to create an environment where students can take risks and learn from their attempts. Although Ms. Hartmann enjoys every subject she teaches, she particularly likes science, where she has the opportunity to encourage children to explore the world around them and figure out how things work. She considers her greatest accomplishment to be helping students gain their independence.

Jacqueline Vigil

A veteran of the oil industry, Jacqueline Vigil has garnered nearly four decades of professional experience. She started working with oil in Denver, Colorado in the ‘80s, and hasn’t looked back since. Ms. Vigil has since transitioned to General Monitors, and oil and gas company where she currently serves as an administrative assistant. To ensure that she stays sharp, she completes continuing education courses and updates her skills.

As a woman in today’s world, Ms. Vigil attributes her success to her ability to keep her faith and understand that bad times aren’t problems, but opportunities. Viewing her life in a positive way has helped her overcome some extremely tough experiences, including losing her son in 2011. Ms. Vigil persevered, however, and is proud of getting back on her feet in the wake of his death. A highlight of her journey was being featured on the cover of the fall/winter 2014/2015 edition of Longaberger magazine, which led to women coming together and supporting her during hard times.

Karen F. Reid

She thrived on training, guiding and mentoring people, and upon reading an article about how business marketing can fit into education, she decided to use her talents to help children. Since then, Ms. Reid has spent the past six years serving as the administrative dean of Orange County Public Schools. She has been inspired by the students she serves; when she sees the difference she makes in their future, it validates what she does and why. Looking forward, Ms. Reid hopes to continue to grow professionally and to eventually do consulting work. She attributes her ongoing success to her ability to understand her target audience and communicate at all levels.
