Phyllis Rubin has always wanted to help people through education. She began her career as a physical education teacher in the Hicksville, Long Island School District, where she stayed for 31 years. Upon retiring from teaching, she began a career as a health educator and personal trainer, and began Phyllis Rubin, Ltd., a health, wellness and fitness company that focuses on personal training services.

Ms. Rubin prepared for her long and involved career by earning a Master of Arts in health education from Adelphi University in 1974, and a Master of Arts in physical education from the Teacher’s College of Columbia University. Additionally she is a certified ACE personal trainer and lifestyle and weight management coach, with a specialty in senior fitness. She is also a certified specialist through the American Academy of Fitness and Rehab in medical exercise and post-rehab. In 2016, she also became a licensed Zumba instructor, as well as a gold instructor.

Ms. Rubin considers her greatest strengths to be her creativity and her love of people. She is also empathetic, compassionate, knowledgeable and extremely generous. Her greatest accomplishment has been serving as President of the AAAAA. She ran the peak program and  has organized conferences throughout the country. Ms. Rubin has a strong interest in older adult fitness, and she has an she has worked hard to receive certification in these fields. She was also recently certified by the IYCA as a youth conditioning specialist. She is up-to-date on her training from the AHA, in CPR, AED and first aid She was also a former member of a variety of  organizations, including Long Island Center for Business and Professional Women and a former chairman of the PEAAK Program. She is currently a member of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology.
