With a deep-rooted interest in how things work, Kathleen Coffey was encouraged from a very early age to explore the engineering field. She did just that, and eventually went on to become one of the founding members of Sentio Engineering. Ms. Coffey brings more than 25 years of experience in the oil and gas industry to her company, which provides facilities design and construction. She specializes in the critical areas of process design and project management, and has become well-known for her ability to fast-track and crash projects when deadlines are the primary constraint. Ms. Coffey also has the ability to de-bottleneck and troubleshoot existing facilities, as well as design and apply unique solutions to existing problems. This unique combination of skills allows her to minimize client expense and improve the on-stream date of a facility.
As the managing director of Sentio Engineering, Ms. Coffey is responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations, including marketing and process design, managing effective client interaction, and offering her skills on any project from cradle to grave. Prior to starting the company, she served as a partner at Concise Design for 16 years. Ms. Coffey won an environmental award from Total E&P for her efforts, and attributes her success to having effective mentors and having been fortunate to have received a good education. She also credits having the opportunity and confidence to take on challenges while working hard to achieve her goals.
In preparation for her professional journey, Ms. Coffey earned a Bachelor of Science in engineering with a focus on chemical engineering from the University of Calgary in 1987, and became a project management professional through the Project Management Institute. She stays on top of her field through her affiliations with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of British Colombia, PEGS, and the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta. Looking to the future, Ms. Coffey aims to create a safe environment in which to work, while providing excellent service to her clients and engaging in mutually beneficial relationships.
