Clever, organized, and detail-oriented, Shelby Thompson is thriving in her career with Tomorrow Lab. The project design and engineering consultancy focuses on prototyping new hardware technology and turning those prototypes into market-ready products. Drawing on more than a decade of diverse professional experience in developing marketing strategies, copy-writing, editing, research, and project management, Ms. Thompson has a knack for cultivating a creative energy at the lab. In her role, she leads marketing, social media, and the website, and handles day-to-day operations, finances, and business development.

As a woman in today’s world, Ms. Thompson is always looking to meet like-minded people to continue to foster her professional and creative growth. One such person is Carla Diana, her mentor and an adviser for Tomorrow Lab, to whom she credits her success. An honored member of The International Women’s Leadership Association herself, Ms. Thompson would advise the younger generations to take a chance that might not meet their financial goal but will make them happy, and to not be afraid to try something different. She herself left a job that paid twice as much to come to Tomorrow Lab because she was unhappy.

To prepare for her career, Ms. Thompson earned a Master of Publishing from George Washington University and a Bachelor of Arts in creative writing from the University of North Carolina at Asheville. When she isn’t working, she enjoys running, biking, bowling, writing, and live music. Ms. Thompson is also affiliated with the Logan Circle Community Association, and hopes to be remembered as a creative person who always helped others.
