Each step Rose Platel takes allows her to follow her passion for enhancing the lives of others. She was inspired to pursue education at a young age; her aunt was a school teacher, and always told Ms. Platel stories about her job. Her journey to follow in her aunt’s footsteps led her to Hunter College Campus Schools, an institution consisting of an elementary school and a high school. Ms. Platel’s position includes overseeing extracurricular activities, like the Hawk’s Nest after school program and the summer enrichment program.
Prior to joining Hunter College Campus Schools, Ms. Platel garnered an impressive professional resume, which has given her the experience needed to thrive in education administration. She has served as the program director of YWCA of the City of New York, the site director of the New York Junior Tennis League, the head teacher at Brooklyn Child and Family Services, and the site coordinator of the YMCA of Greater New York. Additionally, Ms. Platel took experiences from when she was a student and used them to learn how to treat other students better. She is proud of her ability to make a difference.
When Ms. Platel isn’t working, she participates with the New York Road Runners. She is also an honored member of The International Women’s Leadership Association, and would advise the younger generations to have patience and be visible. Ms. Platel also believes they shouldn’t let obstacles get in the way of achieving their goals.
