Fisher, CynthiaTitle: Assistant Professor and
Clinical Services Coordinator of Radiologic Technology
Company: The Dalton State College School of Radiologic Technology
Location: Rossville, GA United States

Cynthia Fisher is defined by how she sees the world and the difference she would like to make. Whether it be through her students, her fellow church members or strangers in the world, she wants to make a change for the better. Radiologic technology started out as just a job to Ms. Fisher, but it has since become her passion. She worked in the field for more than 10 years, and served as a clinical instructor for interns from Dalton State College. Following that experience, Ms. Fisher was called by her former program director, who wanted to know if she wanted to teach. She accepted the proposition, and thus began her journey with The Dalton State College School of Radiologic Technology.

To qualify for her new position, Ms. Fisher had to get a Bachelor of Science, which the school allowed her to do while working for them. Unfortunately, her father passed away while she was in school, and she was diagnosed with breast cancer toward the end of the program. Although it was a huge challenge, Ms. Fisher continued to work and go to school while getting treatment. Her troubles didn’t stop there, however, as colon problems led doctors to perforate her colon a couple of years later. Through her experiences, Ms. Fisher learned what it was like to be a patient, which taught her much compassion and patience. She has since taken her newfound understanding to the classroom, where she uses it to help guide students.

Looking forward, Ms. Fisher hopes to complete a master’s degree and take the current program director’s place, as she will probably be leaving soon. In addition to that job, she would like to open a PRN temp agency with the best technologists. Ms. Fisher has nine years of graduates under her, and she remembers who the stars were. She intends to make it worth their while to work for her agency.

Ms. Fisher’s biggest inspiration is her husband, who has been her cheerleader from the get-go. He cooks dinner, does most of the household chores, and makes sure she has everything she needs to do her schoolwork. She believes that it is through the grace of God that she overcame her challenges and that her husband dealt with her conditions, including mild Asperger’s Syndrome. Ms. Fisher knows she is exactly where God wants her to be.
