Deborah Watford

Watford, DeborahTitle: President
Company: Kilgore & Associates Human Resources Consultants
Location: Potomac, MD United States

After working for the government for 25 years, Deborah Watford decided to retire in 1997 and become a private contractor. Now the president of Kilgore & Associates Human Resources Consultants, she focuses on classification work, which consists of reviewing and evaluating positions to determine the appropriate title, series and grade level for professional, scientific, administrative and clerical positions. The consultancy centers on producing short-term return on investment through better teaming, communication, project discipline, and efficient decision-making.

The biggest challenge Ms. Watford faced was convincing management to accept new ideas. In the end, she has to do what the client wants, but she insists the information she gives is accurate and helpful. If she doesn’t know everything about a subject matter, she makes it her mission to learn it so that the correct information is presented. Ms. Watford’s greatest strengths are her diligent work ethic, and her willingness to go the extra mile for her clients. She takes the job seriously, and was inspired by her parents and mentors. Ms. Watford is proud of her success in the HR community. She is now considered an expert, and is often called upon for her knowledge and advice.

Currently, Ms. Watford’s goal involves bringing the company to the next level. She is also interested in purchasing an apartment complex, as she would like to get involved in the real estate industry. During her free time, Ms. Watford enjoys decorating and tinkering, as well as looking for rental properties and going to the beach.  She is an honored member of The International Women’s Leadership Association, and holds a Bachelor of Science in behavioral science from Shaw University.
