Taking a leap to work independently proved to be a very successful change for Alison Hackwell, who has thrived on the challenges presented. As an expert in coaching and work-related performance, she founded Arkimedia, a professional development company that provides executive coaching, performance improvement, change transformation, communication strategies, and consultations. Ms. Hackwell is passionate about business improvement through people, since she believes that people are the key to any organization. Her role as the director of performance and talent management brings her into contact with people from across all levels of business, which is an aspect that she finds particularly fulfilling.

Ms. Hackwell started her career with Unilever, and draws much of her corporate experience from her 13 years there. She started as a graduate trainee with the company in the IT department, and while that gave her great experience in business systems, she found that her passion was working with people. Ms. Hackwell transitioned to the HR and supply chain change management department, where her career progressed and brought on roles of increasing responsibility. She left to create her own company, which allows her to spend more time with her family.

To prepare for her career, Ms. Hackwell earned a bachelor’s degree in food economics and marketing from Reading University in 1987. She attributes her success to her overriding passion for making a difference, as well as her integrity and honesty while working with clients. Looking forward, Ms. Hackwell intends to grow and establish her brand. She enjoys music and singing in a choir when she has spare time.
