Driven by a desire to help people and a passion for numbers, Rebecca Howell thought that a career in accounting was only natural. She started out working for a small CPA firm in Scottsdale, Arizona, as a staff accountant. After a couple of years, Ms. Howell realized that she could make a successful business for herself while helping other businesses with their bookkeeping needs. She founded Custom Bookkeeping Solutions in 2003, and her background allows her to provide a full range of services to fit every need. This includes bank reconciliation, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bill pay.
To prepare for her career, Ms. Howell became a QuickBooks certified proadvisor in 2004, and an advanced certified proadvisor in 2009. She intends to grow her QuickBooks certification each and every year. In 2012, Ms. Howell passed a three-part IRS exam to become an enrolled agent, which allows her to prepare tax returns and represent clients with IRS issues. Additionally, Ms. Howell is involved with the American Institute of Professional Bookkeepers and the National Association of Tax Professionals. Her many certifications and extensive network allow her to stay up-to-date on tax law changes and updates for bookkeeping scenarios.
Ms. Howell considers her greatest accomplishment to be surviving the recession and staying in business. She is also very thankful for her great client base. Professionally, Ms. Howell hopes to transition into more of a tax practice while maintaining the level of quality and service she provides. When she isn’t working, she is enjoying time with her family, traveling, going to the movies, and having lunches and dinners with friends. Ms. Howell is also a member of The International Women’s Leadership Association.
