Cortes, GiselleTitle: Director of International Airports
Company: JetBlue Airways
Location: Stamford, CT United States

Safety, caring, fun, passion and integrity: these are the values that Giselle Cortes strives to live by as the director of international airports for JetBlue Airways. She has been with the company for 12 or its 15 years, and has steadily risen through the ranks. Ms. Cortes began in an entry-level position reporting to finance, and then worked for three years as the payroll supervisor. In 2008, she was promoted to payroll manager, and as of 2013, she began her work on the operations side of the industry. Three years ago, Ms. Cortes entered her current position, which entails overseeing operations for 31 airports in 19 countries. She also maintains the strategic guidelines in terms of the customer service standards, and meets with local partners and government agencies to evolve service standards and operating efficiencies.

JetBlue Airways is very big on corporate social responsibility; one of their main missions is inspiring humanity. To Ms. Cortes, expanding overseas isn’t just about building an office space; it’s about adapting to the local cultures and listening to the community’s needs. To uphold these standards and the standards of JetBlue Airways, she holds social responsibility events. Recently, in the Dominican Republic, they held an event that allowed families with autistic children the opportunity to experience the airline. Ms. Cortes attributes her success to her strong foundation growing up and her mom, who is a great female role model.
