Title: Educator (Retired)
Location: Wichita Falls, TX United States
After years of experience, Linda Beckham retired from her dream job as an educator. She loved her career, and used her diagnostic skills to create education plans for each student. Ms. Beckham had the unique ability to look at a child, see their determination, and know what would work best for them. The greatest challenge she faced was getting administration to do what was best for the children. Still, inspired by her students, the parents and her family, Ms. Beckham strove to create a strong learning environment. Her students called her classroom “monkey mansion” because of the more than 180 stuffed monkeys she displayed there. They served to remind the kids that there was always a “monkey on their back,” so to speak, so it was important to pay attention and make the most of the opportunity they had to learn.
Ms. Beckham prepared for her career by earning a master’s degree in deaf education and a bachelor’s degree in elementary and deaf education. Now in retirement, her goals have shifted to taking care of her parents and traveling. Ms. Bechman is a member of Biltmore Who’s Who, and supports Autism Speaks Inc. Additionally, she enjoys crocheting, knitting, sewing, English smocking and scrapbooking.
