Joyce Batcheller had known from a very early age that she wanted to be a nurse. She was hit by a truck when she was a child, and aspired to help others in the same way she was helped. Dr. Batcheller continues her passion for serving people through her current administrative role with AMN Healthcare, a nurse recruitment and staffing agency. Her greatest strength is her vision; she can tap into people’s hidden potential and promote their growth. Dr. Batcheller is driven by seeing the results and positive impact her work has, both on the health care workers and on the patients they care for. She believes that, as the current population ages out of work, there will be a huge shortage of people to fill their positions. For that reason, Dr. Batcheller hopes to pave the way for millennials to enter the position and groom them for senior positions. She earned a doctorate in nursing to prepare for her career.
Prior to her current position, Dr. Batcheller served in the U.S. Air Force, where she was faced with the struggle of getting people to take her seriously. It was challenging for her to have her voice heard and to receive credit for her accomplishments. In Dr. Batcheller’s experiences, women have to adhere to a higher set of standards than their male counterparts. She hopes to be remembered for her passion for fighting for what she believes is right, even if it is not always popular.
