Driven by the belief that parents and educators have to start with a child’s strength to help them solve problems in other, more challenging aspects of their lives, Catherine Gruener founded Gruener Consulting, LLC. The firm provides a variety of services, including assistance for parents of gifted children and children with special needs, assistance with behavioral issues, and both individual and couples counseling. As an expert in neuropsychology and a firm believer in the power of positive discipline, Ms. Gruener meets with clients and conducts workshops, seminars and classes. She attributes her success to her passion and dedication to lifelong learning and service to others

Ms. Gruener became involved in her profession due to a natural progression from psychosocial-based scientific research and assessments to implementing interventions that assist in the health and wellbeing of children, parents and families. She currently holds a Master of Arts in counseling from the Adler School of Professional Psychology, which she earned in 2012, and a Master of Arts in neuropsychology from the University of Northern Colorado, which she earned in 1995. Additionally, Ms. Gruener is a licensed clinical professional counselor, a national certified counselor, a certified positive discipline educator, and a certified positive discipline parent educator. If she could offer some advice to the younger generation of women, it would be to learn from mistakes, and to never give up on dreams or aspirations.

Besides the work Ms. Gruener does with her counseling firm, she has been actively volunteering, researching and presenting on the social and emotional needs of gifted children since 2009. To that end, she has served as a social and emotional committee member for the Illinois Association for Gifted Children, and a board member for the Quest Academy Parent Student Association. From 2009 to 2010, Ms. Gruener served as the secretary of the Adler School Hybrid Student Association.
