Regina “Gina” Anselmo

AnselmoTitle: Associate Director, Training & Education Project Lead

Company: Pfizer, Inc.

Location: Colchester, CT

Having been with Pfizer, Inc.’s pharmaceuticals division for the past 19 years, Regina Anselmo currently holds the position of training and education project lead. Honing in on her project management expertise, she has provided the pharmaceutical research company with outstanding leadership, having established excellent relationships with her co-workers, creating clever solutions to challenges, and delegating with fairness. Ms. Anselmo’s goal since becoming training and education lead 10 years ago has been to maintain her greatness in helping groups of individuals develop their career.

Gina is currently the training lead for the Clinical Operations Group (COG) in Development Operations, as well as the training lead for the Hospira Integration. Her work supporting role-based education for the COG group recently includes planning a two and a half hour workshop focused on team leadership skills. The workshop includes a leadership style assessment and scenario-based role plays for study team leads and other colleagues with in COG. Additionally she leads a bi-weekly Education Forum to bring relevant topics before the COG group regarding process updates, system enhancements and other professional development topics.

As the training lead for the Hospira Integration, Gina had to identify a method for Legacy Hospira (L-HSP) colleagues to be trained outside of the Pfizer Learning Management System. Training assignments were focused on L-HSP study team members transitioning into the Pfizer environment (e.g. following Pfizer systems and processes), as well as supporting roles within the Safety, Regulatory and Medical Affairs organizations. Recently, her efforts were focused on transitioning the training completion data into Power2Learn (P2L) and ensuring L-HSP staff had the appropriate role specific curriculum assigned. This requires strategic planning to ensure training is on time to avoid delayed study starts, as well as proactive collaboration and negotiation with individuals in the GEP Safety, Regulatory, Clinical, Data Management, Programming, Statistics, Medical Affairs and NIS organizations.

A key responsibility within the COE Training group is to ensure new and revised processes deployed by the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) team are delivered to the key roles in a targeted and simplified manner. Partnering with the SOP authors and Business Process Owners is essential to ensure key processes are clearly articulated in the training deployed either through P2L or delivered live by BPOs and the COG Education Forum.

“I thoroughly enjoy collaborating and developing relationships with many colleagues in the COE, L-HSP and other areas of the organization.”

Gina has also been an integral part of designing, developing and implementing a system (Firecrest) and business process to enable Pfizer to deploy various types of training (e.g. GCP, protocol specific, systems), outside of the Pfizer firewall to investigational site staff. During this time she developed a greater understanding of the clinical trial execution and budget process.

Gina started with Pfizer August 1997 in the Global Project Management Department. Her responsibilities included implementation, quality management and oversight of project management systems, processes and standards through one-on-one support and formal training workshops for Portfolio Managers, Project Managers and Planners.

Outside of work, Gina enjoys spending time with her husband, two boys, two dogs and “BunBun” their rabbit. She loves relaxing on the beach, gardening, cooking and traveling. Their most recent vacation was taking their two boys to Disney World for the first time.

Congratulations to Gina and the SOP & Training team for being one of the nine team winners for the 2015 CMEI Quality Awards.
