As a woman in today’s world, Necha Matthews feels that her passion for helping others and for medicine has contributed to her success.  Thus, for the past five years, she has served as a registered nurse at the Veterans Affairs Hospital. Although her current professional goal is to go for her doctorate so she can start her own practice focusing on women’s wellness. The one aspect of Ms. Matthews’ working condition she would most like to change is to see more people be able to get affordable health care as well as increasing the quality of care.

The advice Ms. Matthews can share with the younger generation of women in to do your best and be focused. Initially, she chose this career path because she loves to care for others and knew at a young age she wanted a career in health care. She prepared for this career by going to school for nursing and is currently pursuing a degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner. Her greatest strengths include her ability to listen to others, resolving their problems, and being pro-active in solving them. During her free-time, Ms. Matthews enjoys listening to music, reading, getting her hair and nails done, and traveling.
