Attributing her professional success to tenacity, Joy Allen celebrates 10 years as executive coordinator for Microsoft Corporation and an overall career in the IT field spanning 19 years. Drawing upon her passion for helping others, Ms. Allen utilizes her creativity and resourcefulness to streamline processes for her company, implementing them as well as improving them.  She considers her versatility to be one of her greatest professional strengths, and she has been recognized, both internally and externally, for her work providing Productivity Workshops on Outlook to her peers in the community. It is Ms. Allen’s ultimate goal to become a national keynote presenter for Microsoft’s services and products. She hopes to be remembered for making a difference in the lives of others, and advises the younger generation of women entering the workforce not to give up.

During her career, Ms. Allen has drawn inspiration and motivation from the validation that she is helping people, as demonstrated by their gratitude. She prepared for her career by earning a bachelor’s degree in business management with concentration on general management, and she persistently follows her desire to learn and keep herself ahead in the industry by continuing her education and following technological trends. Initially starting out in the security field and managing twenty-six men, Ms. Allen swiftly overcame the challenge of working in a male-dominated industry with confidence and professional resolve. Due to her years of accomplishments, she has been the recipient of numerous awards, but she is the most proud of the Customer Partner Experience award she received from Microsoft North America.

Motivated by her compassion for others, Ms. Allen stays involved with the Haven, a shelter for abused women and children, and was instrumental in obtaining $100K software grant from Microsoft for them. She has also served on the local PTA Board at her daughter’s school as Treasurer for two years. She helps Focus: HOPE, a diversity organization, and the Boys and Girls Club of Southeast Michigan whenever possible. In her free time, Ms. Allen enjoys gardening, boating, and traveling. She considers her greatest personal accomplishment to be her two daughters.
