Catherine Cattarello was inspired to pursue this career path due to an experience given to her by one of her professors while she was still an undergraduate student. She was presented with the opportunity to teach. She took advantage of the opportunity, and realized then that she loved it. Her greatest strength is her writing and communication skills. She has taught writing for many years, she has been employed as a writer and written her own stories. She is presently working on several stories presently which she hopes to have published in the near future. The biggest challenge that Ms. Cattarello has had to overcome was an extremely difficult custody battle for her daughter with her ex-husband.
Ms. Cattarello achieved a BA, in Textual English, from Syracuse University, in 1999. She will be pursuing a MA, in Communication Studies at The University of Denver, an accelerated program, in 2016-2017 and immediately pursuing a Ph.D immediately after that. Her greatest accomplishment to date was, one year ago today, she had the opportunity to live and work in South America, in Columbia and participate in an Elite Educational Program which consisted of one hundred native teachers chosen from the United States and Australia to teach in a Columbian Community College System. It was a very prestigious opportunity. They met people from congress and had a reception held for them at The Presidential Palace. In addition to this she was the recipient of The Teacher of the Year Award, 2014, and chosen out of one hundred teachers.
The one aspect of her profession that she would like to change is she would like higher education to be accessible to everyone regardless of their economic status. What inspires Ms. Cattarello most is her students and the people that she works with. Teaching at the Community Colleges and Adult Learning Centers has been a tremendous inspiration to her. She is working with individuals who are motivated and extremely interested in learning. She most wants to be remembered most for being a person who was strong and wise. During her free-time, Ms. Cattarello enjoys reading, writing, hiking, and cooking.
