As president and general agent for OneCommonwealth Financial Group, Kimberly Johnson recruits, develops and empowers advisers to work effectually with clientele and generate winning results. Her work with OneCommonwealth furthers their goal of offering clients life insurance, disability insurance, long-term care products, retirement services and investment products. Currently, Ms. Johnson is responsible for recruiting qualified sales and management representatives, assisting representatives with career goals, guiding representatives in their work with clients, providing consulting services to team members and acting as a liaison to clients. Considering her main expertise to be in building relationships and helping clients prepare for their future, she is proud to continue successfully hiring and building a team of capable and considerate insurance agents.
In preparation for her career, Ms. Johnson earned a Bachelor of Arts in English and communications from the University of New Mexico in 1982. She is also certified as a leadership fellow from the American College of Leadership and holds a certification in long term care. Wielding an industry background spanning more than 12 years, she is proud to have been promoted to run an agency when she hit her three-year mark. As a female professional, Ms. Johnson feels that surrounding herself with other professional women has contributed to her success, along with hard work. She advises other women entering the workforce to identify what they want, work hard to get it, value education and understand that, depending on the industry, there are still differences in the way women are perceived.
Ms. Johnson supports her professional community and her charitable interests through involvement with several boards, including the Lexington chapter of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors, God’s Closet, the Executive Leadership Committee for the Leukemia Lymphoma Society and the Lexington chapter of Kappa Kappa Gamma Alumni. She also supports the Cancer Society and the Diabetes Association, and belongs to the Professional Women’s Forum in Lexington and the Society of Financial Professionals. Due to her professional excellence, Ms. Johnson has won numerous awards with New York Life, including recognition for being a leading partner in her zone.
Looking ahead, Ms. Johnson plans to continue to focus on personal development and build a bigger unit, growing the number of agents employed. Inspired by seeing people achieve more than they initially thought possible, she hopes to be remembered for being true to herself, being honest and keeping her promises. When she isn’t working, Ms. Johnson enjoys sporting events, reading and spending time with her family, including her husband of 29 years and their two children.
