Attributing her occupational success to her passion for her industry, Erin MacDonald brings expertise in strategy and alignment on multiple platforms to her work as director of communications for 460 Communications. As a public relations and communications firm, 460 Communications relies on Ms. MacDonald to manage marketing strategies, drive corporate development, oversee consultants responsible for representing small businesses, promote events and complete other administrative duties. Ms. MacDonald became involved with this profession because of her dynamic background in public relations and communication. Earlier in her career, she worked in the marketing and communications department at Vancouver Island University, where she honed her skills in public relations. Ms. MacDonald was also the communications coordinator for the Vancouver Island Real Estate Board and, during her time at the board, secured a position working as the communications and community of practice coordinator for REvia, a joint venture formed by numerous Canadian provincial real estate associations. Before signing on as director and partner for 460 Communications, she ran the successful election campaign for Bill McKay, Nanaimo’s current mayor.

In preparation for her career, Ms. MacDonald earned a graduate degree in corporate communications and public relations from Seneca College, where she graduated with honors, and a Bachelor of Business Administration in marketing and managing from Vancouver Island University. Dedicated to advancement within her field, she belongs to Young Professionals of Nanaimo, Nanaimo Ladysmith Liberal Association and the local chamber of commerce. A devoted advocate for change, Ms. MacDonald actively supports numerous nonprofit organizations.
