Cynthia Cates chose her profession in the nonprofit sector because she always felt education was important and was at the right place at the right time, so joining Kosciusko Literacy Services was a natural profession for her. As executive director, she draws upon her preparation for this career through her Master of Business Administration from Purdue University, and Bachelor of Science degrees. Ms. Cates’ biggest challenges she still faces is fund raising and marketing for Kosciusko Literacy Services.

Ms. Cates’ greatest strength is in finance and organizational skills, as her greatest accomplishment to date is the program that she launched for free and reduced lunch for pre-school which increased by 15-percent. Her professional goals are to build the endowment fund and retire in several years. Ms. Cates’ inspiration comes from within., as she knows the importance of education and the wonderful impact it can have and so I want to instill that in others.
