Initially, Marrea Thomas chose her career path because she enjoyed computer science and started as a temp. Now, she serves Daiichi Sankyo Inc. as manager of training and procedures, re-vamping training to make them better and more compliant. She attribute her success to enjoying the interaction that she has with colleagues, providing them with the clearest, most efficient and effective training is both important and rewarding to me. Ms. Thomas prepared for her carerr by obtaining a Master of Project Management from Colorado Technical University and a bachelor’s degree in computer science from New Jersey City University.
Ms. Thomas’ advice to young women entering the workforce is “to shoot for the stars. Don’t ever put limits on yourself. There is so much knowledge out there and much of it is also free. Also, don’t be afraid to ask those more knowledgeable for assistance.” Throughout her 13 professional years, she has found the biggest challenge to be the balance between her work and personal lives. Her greatest strength is in training, putting together presentations and implementation of new systems. Ms. Thomas greatest accomplishment in her career was the conversion of a learning management system from manual to electronic with the team and has it up and running.
