Ms. Kerr was elected as president six years ago when the term of office was a two years. She was elected three times. She has recently been re-elected for a four-year term. Ms. Kerr is involved at all levels to influence education policy in New Zealand. She attributes her success to a willingness to step outside of her comfort zone and always looking above the horizon.
Initially, Ms. Kerr became involved in her profession because she always has been in education. She follows children through education and when government introduced the school trustee system, she had to be involved making policy. She knew it would give her satisfaction and fulfillment. Since earned her degree, Ms. Kerr has kept abreast of changes in her profession through her memberships with the Ministerial Work Groups, New Zealand Institute of Directors, and Australasian Society of Associations Executives.
Ms. Kerr received a Bachelor of Business Administration from Massey University in 1992. In five years, she intends to retire and conduct research. She will write a book, focused on the lives of the people with whom she has worked. The book will also mention Ms. Kerr’s ability to influence government policy development.
