Shona Selley’s passion for people is reflected in her work as growth agitator, transformational coach, leadership development trainer and public speaker at The John Maxwell Company. A business coaching and asset finance service organization, The John Maxwell Company relies on Ms. Selley’s skills in leadership, personal and business development, organizational design and transformation, public speaking, training and motivational strategy to further their professional goals. Her work for the company involves managing senior level reports, supervising teams that number from 274 to 1000 people and facilitating organization-wide projects. She became involved in her line of work because it provided an opportunity for self-growth and societal impact.
Drawing upon a career that spans 27 years, Ms. Selley hopes to help people unleash their inherent value, skill and God-given gifts through her work. She attributes her success to her personal relationship with God; as an elder at her church, she teaches on Christian principles and treats her leadership duties with the utmost respect and personal responsibility. Dedicated to further help people through professional advancement, she earned a bachelor’s degree in theology from Christian Bible College in 2014, completed management development coursework through The John Maxwell Company, and studied business management at Henley Business School.
Before advancing to The John Maxwell Company, Ms. Selley spent nearly eight years working as a general manager for WesBank, where she honed her abilities in such areas as strategic management, customer service and multilevel workshops. It was at WesBank that she was named youngest ever female executive, which she considers one of her greatest career achievements to date. Ms. Selley aspires to be an inspiration through her successes at WesBank and at her current position, encouraging others to live to their fullest capacity.
Along with retaining membership with The John Maxwell Institute, Ms. Selley keeps informed of changes in the business development arena through membership with LifeCo United, South Africa. Her drive to help those in need unsatiated, she has been on the board of a nonprofit committed to building a self-sustainable village for orphans and widows which will provide them with life skills, a safe community and educational opportunities. Ms. Selley also supports Hope in Jesus Ministries, mission work in Mozambique and other social service organizations. Renowned for her hard work, she is the proud recipient of an organizational leadership award.
