Wielding 35 years of public health services expertise, Nancy Mangieri continues in her fourth year as director for Bergen County Department of Health Services. There, she shares service contracts with 70 municipalities for public health services. She also provides preparedness for bio-terrorism, mental health coordination, the addiction and alcohol program, and the health promotion and education program, animal shelter and adoption center, long term care, environmental and hazardous material, mental health law project, public health nursing, health department fiscal department, non public school nursing. Ms. Mangierie also serves as the municipal alliance coordinator, and acts as a municipal alliance coordinator and director of nursing.
She attributes her success to being a lifelong learner. Ms. Mangieri has curiosity and seeks out creative ways to address problems. She is not afraid to evaluate new things, knowing that there is the probability of a high success rate. Initially, Ms. Mangieri became involved in her profession after going back to school. With her family all grown up, she went for additional education and attained a Doctor of Nursing Practice.
Ms. Mangieri is working to educate people in the prevention of rabies. She believes that, with good education, no one needs to die from the disease. Additionally, she volunteers with a number of organizations. In the coming years, Ms. Mangieri would like to continue introducing public health to various professions that have not had the chance to work with it yet.
