Initially, Jane Gordon became involved in her profession after finishing school and before attending university. She found that she loved helping people and continued on in the field. She states, “I have been fortunate in my career that I have had the chance to work with people from all nationalities and cultures. I have had a chance to make a difference in peoples lives and have had the opportunity to participate in a range of different roles including Board Memberships, President of the College of Nursing and as a finalist in the Telstra Woman of the Year.” Ms. Gordon finds it’s her transparency, commitment, enthusiasm, and risk-taking is what separates her from others.
For the past nine years, Ms. Gordon has been the medical education and research development specialist at Dubai Health Authority. There she helps the organization provide health care administration, consulting, education and research, including disaster planning, strategy, and operational planning. She is an expert in all of these categories, wielding 41 years in nursing and health care administration, currently service as an operation manager, director of nursing, university lecturer, consultant and development specialist. In five years, Ms. Gordon intends to continue contributing in the health care field to improve the lives of others.
Ms. Gordon feels that building and commissioning a number of new hospitals, developing education and succession plans for nursing staff, being involved in the development of demonstration sites for health care innovation, and developing and implementing disaster plans and processes internationally has been the greatest accomplishments in her career.
