Ms. Caltagirone is a Canadian chartered accountant who started Sunesis Consulting 11 years ago. Sunesis employs a team of experienced professionals and serves Canadian intermediate energy companies such as Crescent Point Energy, Enerplus, Tourmaline Oil Corp, and Painted Pony Petroleum, to name a few. She is the sole shareholder of Sunesis. Sunesis supports its clients in the areas of organizational design, risk-management and controls, Sarbanes-Oxley certification support, outsourced internal audit, enterprise-risk management implementation, and board / governance assessments.
She is currently spearheading a joint-research project with Mount Royal University, evaluating the sustainability of the Canadian junior oil & gas sector. For the last seven years, Ms. Caltagirone has served as a director on the board of the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, and has chaired the finance and audit committee for the last four years. She has also championed and advocated for arts organizations in Calgary. She received the Distinguished Service Award from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Alberta in 2015.In 2007, she started the ‘Perseverance Award’ scholarship for students attending the Bow Valley College, and has supported this scholarship each year since.
Prior to starting Sunesis, Ms. Caltagirone worked for several world-class companies, including Mobil Oil Canada, ExxonMobil, and Enbridge. While working at Mobil Oil, she had the opportunity to be one of few Canadians to work on the Hibernia Offshore Platform. There she evaluated the offshore waste-management program.
