How did you come across such a dense and extensive career-path?
“Actually, this career chose me! After a very successful career as the head Psychologist at Miami Dade County School District where I worked for 28.2 years, I decided to pursue a calling and reach a much larger audience. This is a true story and an inspirational one. One day I fell in my house and I asked GOD what he wanted from me since I was in so much pain and than I received a phone call from an Associate Producer to do a TV Show for Hispanics. I felt this was GOD’s way of telling me this was the direction I should take.”
Where did your professional preparation muster itself up?
“My studies started at the University of Havana and than I transferred and finish up my studies at the University of Miami where I received my Bachelors Degree in Education. I received my doctorate degree in Education with a specialization in Early and Middle Adolescence from Nova Southeastern while raising my four children. I also hold a post-graduate specialist degree in Psychology, and a Masters in Psychological Diagnosis from Florida Atlantic University. In addition, I have completed intensive specialty training in a variety of subjects, including sexual intimacy disorders, at the world-renowned Masters & Johnson Institute; domestic violence, through The National Coalition against Violence; and family grief and loss from Chloe Madanes.”
What has been you greatest accomplishment to-date?
“My greatest accomplishment first, is my four children and my eight grandchildren. I am so proud of them. Secondly, it is that I just love to help people. I have authored eight books on self help. I even had President Barack Obama call in to my radio show to discuss education, immigration and healthcare. In fact, I just interviewed the President in Washington D.C. this week.”
Who has been your grandest inspiration?
“I am inspired by my family and every caller that calls in. I stay very connected. We are a community. I find it so rewarding when people call in and than call back years later and tell me what a difference I made in their lives. I also have a fantastic group of women who I have known since I was seven years old. We try to meet the second Saturday of every month for a luncheon. Sometimes there is fifteen to twenty of us at one time.”
