Ms. Long also handles the purchasing, watering of the plants, acting as a massage therapist, applying face treatments, pedicures and feet treatments. She became involved in her profession through the influence of her mother and her good support system. Ms. Long started giving massages, and it calmed and helped her deal with life. She received a Bachelor of Science in geology from The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. She is also certified in sports massage, massage therapy, energy work, touch and sports massage. In five years, Ms. Long intends to expand the business; she hopes to double and then triple her company. She intends to open another location in Fort Walton Beach, Fla., add new items to the menu, and hire more staff members.

Ms. Long attributes the success she’s achieved being a female owner, by not only the support from her family, but the people who have mentored her and carved a path and lent their knowledge and experiences to her, women and men alike, who are professionals in field a long time, who have struggled, achieved, advanced, and some who retired. The advice she would like to share with younger generation of women entering the work force: “The biggest hurdle is not taking an avenue of education. You need to educate because it builds confidence. Also, you much give up time and make healthy choices, take care of your business, groom yourself and groom your business, and learn from your mistakes. You can’t serve everyone, but the pie is big and we can have a nice slice.”
