With perseverance on her side, Wanessa Pence has never been known to give up her dream. Beginning in 1989, she was hired as an architectural drafter at SRT Drafting, preparing blue prints to submit to planning and zoning departments, while building drafts to train. In 2005, she branched off and started her own firm with a friend entitled Wanessa-Sue, Inc. As the firms’ president and chief executive officer, Ms. Pence provides hands-on manufacturing of AIRLIGHT Building Panels.
Specifically, Ms. Pence designs the panels that go into a construction project, expand the polystyrene, and roll the studs and track. She also does quality control on all aspects of the manufacturing process, while also overseeing the rest and relaxation of her employees. Her advice to young females entering the field is to “get a good education in the career you’re thinking, do not give up on your dreams, and make time in your life for things you enjoy.” Within the next few months, Ms. Pence intends to branch out into Canada, and garner a heavier presence in the country.

Ms. Pence has military experience through the U.S. Navy. She also graduated from Northland Pioneer College with a Bachelor of Applied Science in computer science and an Associates Degree in architecture.
