Title: Director, Educator, Owner
Company: Moni Sid & Associates
Location: Rosemead, Calif.
As a civil and structural engineer for the past 32 years, Monique Sidaross serves in her 22 year as director, educator and owner of the consulting firm, Moni Sid & Associates. Throughout her work-week, she collaborates with government funded companies with her consultancy while teaching algebra, trigonometry, calculus, English, French, and Arabic translation at community colleges. The highlights of her career are numerous, but if she had to choose one, it would be managing construction sites of hospitals and other major university buildings as a licensed female civil engineer, with about 100 men daily as contractors, superintendents, employees, and engineering student trainees. She acquired two master degrees in civil engineering with a specialization in structural engineering.
Eng. Sidaross is pursuing a doctoral degree in engineering management with an emphasis on the legal system’s effect on engineering business and construction and women engineers. She graduated with honors from the Bridge Design Academy State of California and was able to save the state millions of dollars of losses by correcting a brand new bridge design before construction began. Also she declined to issue permits for construction of another project that could have flooded the entire southern California while it most parts were constructed without permits or knowledge of engineers. Her actions saved the public of southern California from a disaster that could have happened if those projects were actually built. She expected retaliation by those behind the scene, but she decided that ethical engineering and safety of the public comes first. In five years, Ms. Sidaross hopes to earn a doctorate, develop her business, teach at the university level, and become a consultant.”
