Initially, Ann Harris became involved in her profession because she initially was a math major at the University of California, San Diego, because she has always loved working with numbers and mathematical thinking. While in the mathematics program, the head of that program told Ms. Harris that she needed to be in control of her career and that pursuing mathematics would probably lead to her becoming a mid-level mathematician.
