After a career in education as both a teacher and a principal, Kathy Parks decided she wanted to be a business owner. When the opportunity to become an agent with State Farm presented itself, Ms. Parks jumped at the chance, and spent a number of years in that role before moving into leadership. Now, as a sales leader, she is responsible for assisting 33 State Farm agents in Southern Maryland grow their businesses, help their customers, and increase State Farm market share. One-third of Ms. Parks’ responsibility is to recruit talented young people to join the sales force of the future. Potential candidates can work with her to learn about State Farm and the process of becoming an approved candidate, or they can have her connect them with other lead agents with aspirant programs. The remaining two-thirds of her job is to work directly with current agents to help them maximize their opportunity, make money, and serve their customers. Ms. Parks is proud of her role in the success of aspiring State Farm agents.
