Title: 1) Director 2) Professor (Retired)
Company: Caine Veterinary Teaching Center, University of Idaho
Location: Caldwell, ID United States
Growing up, Marie Bulgin always wanted to own a ranch. In pursuit of her goal, she earned a degree as a zoologist and discovered her skills, which led to her harbored desire for a career in agriculture and veterinary medicine. She owns a small-animal medicine veterinary practice, and her husband owns a large-animal practice. Dr. Bulgin also shared her experiences and her love for animals through her teaching position with the Caine Veterinary Teaching Center at the University of Idaho. Although she has since retired from the academic arena, she considers helping young intern students to be her greatest accomplishment.
As a woman in today’s world, Dr. Bulgin feels that loving her career contributed to her success. She never complained, because she knew the work needed to be done. Her greatest strength is educating the public about the treatment and handling of their meat supply; she has become very knowledgeable about the laws concerning meat packing and safety. Dr. Bulgin is inspired by her love of life; she sees everything as beautiful. To further her career, she earned a DVM from the University of California, Davis, an MBA from Boise State University, and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, Berkley. She also became a certified master gardener. Furthermore, Dr. Bulgin is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the ID Wool Rollers Association, the American Sheep Industry, and The International Women’s Leadership Association. If she could offer some advice to the younger generations, it would be to do more than what is asked. Dr. Bulgin currently supports the Disabled Veteran Association, the Disabled Police Officers Association, the Salvation Army and the local food bank.
