Josephine Quezada lives by the motto, “love what you do and you’ll never work a day in your life.” She has always enjoyed working with numbers, so she chose to pursue accounting. Ms. Quezada started out as a bookkeeper, but wanted to learn more. When her boss was let go, she was asked to manage his accounting work, so she ran with it and even implemented a new software program. Ms. Quezada considers her greatest accomplishment to be becoming the controller of Heatherwood Communities, which provides luxury rental living spaces.  Her position includes analyzing financial information and preparing financial reports to determine or maintain record of assets, liabilities, profit and loss, taxes, and other financial activities within the organization.

As a woman in today’s world, Ms. Quezada attributes her success to being positive, continually growing, and sharing knowledge with others. She also has a strong ability to see a problem, analyze it, and come up with a solution. Ms. Quezada is a member of The International Women’s Leadership Association, and would advise the younger generation to push themselves and never settle for less. She hopes to be remembered as a person who was always there to listen and help others.

On her journey to follow her passion, Ms. Quezada attended SUNY College at Old Westbury, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance. She sees herself with Heatherwood Communities for many years in the future, and would like to make her department stronger. When Ms. Quezada isn’t working, she enjoys dancing and spending time with her children and family. She also sends clothes to the needy in the Dominican Republic.
