Drawn to the health care industry, Susan Sharpe has spent the last seven years as a registered nurse at Onslow Memorial Hospital. The 162-bed facility is nationally accredited by The Joint Commission, and employs a staff of more than 100 doctors credentialed in more than 25 specialty areas. An expert in medical surgery and telemetry, Ms. Sharpe is hard working, compassionate, empathetic, and driven to advocate for her patients. She is not fearful of challenges, and sticks to her guns if she believes in something strongly.

When Ms. Sharpe first started out in her nursing career, she encountered some physicians that did not respect the job she did. She learned over the years to excel at her job, however, and is now very well respected. Even after all these years, the attitudes of some male physicians haven’t changed, so Ms. Sharpe teaches the incoming nursing staff to focus on doing the best job they can for their patients.

To prepare for her career, Ms. Sharpe earned a Bachelor of Science in nursing from the University of North Carolina Wilmington in 1997. She has also obtained a HCLS Certification. Looking forward, Ms. Sharpe would love to further her education in nursing. She is charitably involved with the Make-A-Wish Foundation and Relay for Life, and is a member of The International Women’s Leadership Association. Ms. Sharpe hopes to be remembered for her heart and her empathy.
