Although Marilyn Hope was originally hired as a librarian, she began conducting research for teachers and mentoring students, and gradually took on other roles. She currently serves as an instructor at Community Christian College, which is a faith-oriented two-year school. Even though Ms. Hope feels that receiving proper recognition for her work has been a difficult part of her career, she would like to be remembered as someone who helped people turn their lives around and pursue worthwhile careers.

Inspired by her father, who earned a doctorate at 74 years old, Ms. Hope is also pursuing a doctorate. When she finishes it, she hopes to teach in a larger university. Ms. Hope also holds three master’s degrees from the University of Hawaii, and a bachelor’s degree in Arizona. She is a board member at her local food bank, and she enjoys reading, playing the harp, and music.
