Title: President, Chief Executive Officer
Company: Mt. Sanford Tribal Consortium
Location: Gakona, AL
When Evelyn Beeter was in high school, she decided she wanted to work for and help her native people, which is why her position as the president and CEO with Mt. Sanford Tribal Consortium is perfect. The consortium joins the two federally recognized tribal councils of Chistochina and Mentasta Lake to develop educational programs about proper nutrition, effective sanitation habits, and Elder care to empower people to make healthy lifestyle choices. These programs have improved partnerships with local schools, and opened doors to community involvement. Ms. Beeter’s ability to manage without many resources available has proven very useful in her journey with the consortium, as there are lacking resources in rural areas.
In preparation for her career, Ms. Beeter trained as a community health aide. As a woman in today’s world, she feels that the support of her family and community has contributed to her success. She would advise the younger generation of women entering the workforce to make education a priority. Ms. Beeter believes it is important to know your heritage and understand where you came from. Inspired by her mom, who was a caring and loving person, Ms. Beeter hopes to be remembered as a good person who helped others.
Looking forward, Ms. Beeter intends to continue to build the company and develop new programs. When she isn’t working, she participates with several sled dog racing organizations.
