When Marcia Hunter was a little girl, she decided that she want to help people because she was concerned about their emotional needs. She always found satisfaction in guiding people in healing, and became entirely hooked after taking her first psychology class in college. Dr. Hunter proceeded to earn a Master of Science in counseling psychology from Alabama A&M University in 1981, an Ed.S. in curriculum and instructional technology from the University of Memphis in 1986, and an Ed.D. in instruction and leadership from the University of Memphis in 2011. She considers having completed a doctorate degree while working full time to be her greatest accomplishment to date.
In her current role as a psychology professor at Southwest Tennessee Community College, Dr. Hunter has found her greatest strengths in her abilities to work well with people, and to teach, train and counsel individuals and small groups of people. She looks forward to conducting more seminars so that she can help others realize their personal visions and achieve lives filled with success. Personally, Dr. Hunter’s grandmother was her inspiration for success, as she encouraged her to set goals and taught her that failure was a learning process. She believes that stumbling blocks should never deter anyone from achieving their goals.
