Company: Stafford Middle School

Location: Plattsburgh, N.Y.

Having retired 20 years being the school nurse at Stafford Middle School, Barbara Davis is presently training to become a deaconess, potentially looking forward to providing religious services within a Methodist church. She is currently studying at the mission of Lake Junaluska is to be a place of Christian hospitality where lives are transformed through renewal of soul, mind, and body. She chose this career path because it has always been of interest to her, she enjoys travel and she travels all the time. Ms. Davis’ ability to work with others and communicate with people on a human level makes her feel confident in her post-retirement career choice, and is anxious to help on a larger scale.

Drawing from her faith for inspiration, Ms. Davis’ experience with ministry and working on various district and national levels she sees the need to inspire, motivate and encourage families to participate in church, and pursue their spirituality and beliefs and faith in God. She sees a significant need for this to take place in the lives of our children and following generation. The one aspect of her working condition that Ms. Davis would like to change is to have more support provided at the conference center. She perceives that to be a major drawback and would like to see some of the responsibility alleviated from the employees.
