At 21, Melissa VanderVen Jackson was a Certified Collector through the A.C.A. She is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree in Business Management from Aspen University. Her Associate Degree is in Business Management from Davenport University , graduating on the dean’s list. The biggest challenge Ms. VanderVen Jackson was realizing that the glass ceiling does exist, but pushing hard enough to break through and transcend her skills and expertise. The advice she can share with the younger generation of women entering the workforce is to take a job with the expectation of moving up.
Ms. VanderVen Jackson has always been good with numbers; she thinks outside the box, is a major team player, helps people in other departments, and is a perfectionist. Since she was 12, she has wanted to be in accounting, and now she garners 27 years within the field, serving as accounts receivable and credit manager at Big Dutchman Inc. She wants to be remembered as a good mother, the volunteer work she has pursued, being a firm believer in help her community, and find passion in helping others. Ms. VanderVen Jackson believes in giving back.
