Jo Anne Settles

dynamicroundTitle: Professor

Company: Victoria College

Location: Victoria, Texas

As a woman in today’s world, Jo Anne Settles feels that perseverance and moving forward has contributed to her success.  She came from a line of very strong women.  Her mother and aunts were educators and nurses who had to raise their children by themselves.  That made Ms. Settles realize she needed to support herself.  The women in her family were also dedicated to getting their education.

The advice Ms. Settles can give to the younger generation of women entering the workforce is, “Know who you are and do what’s right when no one is looking. Pursue your dreams!” She also believes it was earning a master’s degree in nursing that pushed her a professional level going through bout health care and high education professional fields, combining a career path in her passions: teaching and healing others. Ms. Settles’ greatest accomplishment to date was raising her three “fantastic” children.

Ms. Settles has been a professor at Victoria College for the past 21 years, garnering 45 total years within the medical arena.
