Throughout Glenda Smith’s 35 years of telecommunications expertise, she has gather a plethora of national highlights. Her greatest career achievements were playing an instrumental role in implementing a new ordering and billing system in March 1998, following it by receiving a certification from the Bell Atlantic Corporation in 2000. This measure was taken to order provisioning systems from the company to enter into long-distance businesses. However, the highlight of Ms. Smith’s career was receiving a special recognition that was presented to her at the Women of Color STEM Conference on October 29, 2010 in Dallas.

Ms. Smith started her career as a middle school biology and chemistry teacher. She then started a career with Verizon, and after 32 years she retired. This gave her the opportunity to consult, and pursue her passion to become an advocate for women, children, and those with disabilities. She has always felt that by empowering women in need you not only make a difference in their lives, but you also can make a tremendous difference in their children’s lives. Her second focus is people with disabilities. She is always looking for opportunities to help those in need have a fair chance. Moving forward, she is looking at how she can help veterans.
