Title: Senior Engineering Project Team Leader
Company: Caterpillar Inc.
Location: Germantown, Ill.
Professionally, as senior engineering project team leaders at Caterpillar Inc., Carol Weber’s goals are to relocate to Wisconsin, as her husband also works for Caterpillar, grow on personal and professional levels, and mentor young women in electrical engineering. She originally chose this career path because she grew up on a dairy farm and experienced the use of machinery, so this was a very natural progression for her. Ms. Weber enjoys electrical engineering, as there are always new challenges, and appreciates the constant evolution within the industry.
Ms. Weber prepared for this career by obtaining a Bachelors of Science in electrical engineering from the University of Wisconsin, Platteville, and has also received a plethora of training and certifications through Caterpillar Inc. The biggest challenge for her is that her career’s arena is a very male dominated field, and she has experienced how men think differently than she does. However, this makes her more determined, drawing upon her strengths in project management, leadership, and having great organizational skills to be able to work on multiple projects, fearlessly. Ms. Weber would always like to be remembered as someone people can count on.
Throughout her career, Ms. Weber’s inspiration has always come from being self driven and enjoying what she does. She gets satisfaction when she sees that her team and she can make things better and easier, so it validates what she do and why. However, her greatest accomplishment to date is raising two children who make her proud every day. Professionally, Ms. Weber is proud to have received the Outstanding Humanitarian Service Award from the University of Wisconsin, Platteville in 2010, the Prism Award from the Society of Women Engineers last year, and receiving the Distinguished Alumni award this past November.
