Celebrating 40 years in the transportation industry, she retires in her 35 years at Birmingham-Jefferson County Transit Authority in the position of executive diectory and chief executive officer. She was in the army reserves and completed an internship program that was looking for minorities and women. Ms. Dawson-August enjoys working with individuals on the local, state and federal levels. She has great awareness, so she is sure to deal with balanced budgets.

Ms. Dawson-August prepared for her career through her background in accounting. She would most like to be remembered for being a person who allowed others to grow and develop their own skills, allowing people to learn by doing. Ms. Dawson-August feels that the more you know, the more you grow; it is important to prepare for the next level before you get there.
