Title: Transport Policy Specialist
Company: Jenny Morris Consulting
Location: Ivanhoe East, Vic.
Transport planning and research are a natural extension of Jennifer Morris’ earlier studies in the field of urban accessibility. As transport policy and integration specialist for her company, Jenny Morris Consulting, Dr. Morris brings experience in intergovernmental relations to the field, along with a considerably relevant educational background. When she first began to pursue her professional goals, she had already presented a dissertation on the equality implication of accessibility to health care facilities and was passionate about bringing about positive change. Drawing upon 38 years of experience in transportation, Dr. Morris continues to bring technical skills, knowledge of organizational governance, and planning familiarity to the transport sector through her specialized freelance contributions.
Academically-inclined, Dr. Morris considers as the highlight of her career the publication of her dissertation-inspired article, ‘Accessibility and Transport Planning,’ in Transportation Research: Part A. After earning a Ph.D. in urban geography from Monash University in 1979, she performed senior roles in the public sector in Victoria and developed skills in the areas of integrated planning, special analysis and research, and policy implementation. Having recently retired from a full-time position in the public sector, Dr. Morris continues to provide input on developing policies and pertinent social impact through her freelance organization, which she opened three years ago. She plans in the long term to continue her contributions to the transport sector through mentoring, research and contribution to policy debates. Dr. Morris is passionate about the future of transport planning and currently supports youth mentoring programs.
