Miniature horse-farming has always been a family business for Amy Spangenberg. When her family sold off their dairy cows, they decided to take interest in raising and selling miniature horses, and Ms. Spangenberg continues this legacy today in her role as trainer for SHF Miniature Horses in Pennsylvania. Through her family company, she utilizes her deeply-ingrained animal knowledge to train and breed horses suitable as show horses and family pets.

Strengths such as empathy, listening skills, and patience have brought Ms. Spangenberg success in both horse-training and academia. Driven by a life-long desire to seek and learn from others, Ms. Spangenberg is pursuing a Ph.D. in educational psychology from Walden University. She considers reaching her dissertation to be her greatest accomplishment and hopes to one day attain an online teaching position with a graduate psychology program. She has also achieved a master’s degree in secondary school counseling from Marywood University.

Persistence and compassion are important to Ms. Spangenberg, who would like to be remembered as accessible and helpful in her professional ventures. She is a member of the International Honor Society in Psychology, through which she remains apprised of advancements in the science of psychology. In her free time, Ms. Spangenberg enjoys reading, cooking, and horseback riding.
