Title: Executive Director, United Methodist Pastor
Company: Good Samaritan Ministries
Location: Johnson City, Tenn.
Passionate about helping the homeless, Sarah Wells has provided Good Samaritan Ministries with more than 21 years of dedicated work as executive director. Her devotion to this empathetic line of work stems from the hard times she has overcome in her own experiences; in 10 years, she and her family found themselves homeless nine times, and she grew determined thereafter to help others avoid similar situations to the best of her abilities. Fortunately, her abilities have proven significant and she has seen the organization raise more than 89 million dollars toward helping those stricken by poverty.
In order to effectively purse her charitable endeavors, Ms. Wells earned a bachelor’s degree in social work and a Master of Divinity before going on to become executive director for Good Samaritan Ministries. There, she worked on solutions to poverty-related problems, provided grant accountability, worked with human services, and oversaw 26 employees. Ms. Wells recently left this position to serve full-time as a head minister for the Johnson City District of the United Methodist Church, but she continues as a grant writer and mentor for her initial organization. In the long term, she hopes to continue helping others through pastoral services and charitable consultation.
