As president of National Brokers Insurance Services Inc., Joyce Usher-Mesiano is no stranger to the fortitude it requires to overcome challenges. When she started her insurance business 17 years ago, she resolved to succeed through her own determination as she encountered banks that would not invest in a woman’s undertaking. “I live by the ABC’s,” she explains, “Ask, be Bold, and accept the Challenges.” This mentality certainly applies to not only National Brokers Insurance Services Inc., but to her formation of Monarch Intermediaries, a managing general agent that provides a second medical opinion. She created Monarch when her sister was diagnosed with lung cancer. All of Ms. Usher-Mesiano’s professional endeavors have the same motivation: to give people peace of mind by providing for them the best possible insurance policies to meet their personal needs.
Ms. Usher-Mesiano was professionally motivated to encourage the growth of women within the insurance industry. This aspiration led Ms. Usher-Mesiano to earn a Canadian risk-management degree from the University of Toronto, and to participate in the Tuck-WBENC program at Dartmouth College. Before establishing National Brokers Insurance Services Inc., she represented various other insurance agencies and established herself as a notably capable name in the field. Her education, diverse insurance experience, and remarkable leadership skills sustain National Brokers Insurance Services Inc., which provides clientele with convenient consultation for commercial, personal, and group insurance as well as special insurance programs.
Ms. Usher-Mesiano has been recognized for her exceptional work with a wide range of honors, including the 2013 International Enterprising Woman of the Year Award, the Vaughan Volunteer Recognition Award, and a feature in Canadian Insurance Top Broker magazine. She also co-founded the HeartFelt Help Fund, an organization that improves the quality of life for yearly recepients. As she futhers her flourishing career, Ms. Usher-Mesiano is determined to continue to grow within her profession helping clients find personalized and ground-breaking insurance solutions. Her free time is spent traveling, zip lining, and watching her son play hockey.
