Previously working as a learning disability teacher at Cowden-Herrick CUSD 3A, a school district in Cowden, Ill., Shirley Hall retires 35 years in the educational arena. An expert in home economics education, she provided a passion for education that guided students to a deeper access of learning. Ms. Hall earned a bachelor’s degree in education through Eastern Illinois University, including dual degrees in home economics and adult education.
Currently, Ms. Hall conducts general education development classes. She has five grandchildren, Jeromie, Andria, Leslie, James David, and Kristi. She also has two great-grandchildren, Drake and Draven. In five years, Ms. Hall hopes to continue working as a substitute teacher.
Now, Ms. Hall provides support to the Daughters of the American Revolution, American Council on Education, and 4-H. Her highest honor was receiving the community literacy award from Beta Kappa Gamma Fraternity, Inc.
