Title: Educator, Associate Professor
Location: Fredericksburg, Texas
Sandra Klein chose a career path in education because she felt it was her calling; her parents always encouraged her to have an education, to go to college and be successful. Currently, she is a second grade elementary teacher and an associate professor at the community college. The advice Ms. Klein can give the younger generation of women entering the workforce is that you know you found your niche when the money is secondary to the passion that is ignited when performing duties.
As a women’s in today’s world, Ms. Klein feels her parents stressing education has contributed to her success. She prepared for her profession by earning a master’s degree from Schreiner University and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Texas at San Antonio. Throughout her entire career, Ms. Klein’s greatest strength is building relationships, faith in her ethics, and treating others as she would want to be treated. During her free-time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends.
In Ms. Klein’s words, “The biggest challenge facing educators today is staying positive and not losing focus on why we became teachers… it’s about the students. There are so many distractions within the school system from standardize testing to accountability. Then there are the external factors from the demise of the family structure to the conflict of morals and lack of values are children face daily. It is difficult in this cloud of dismay that we need to stay true to the students no matter the age and not lose hope that education is the key for success. As educators we want to empower, educate, equip, and enrich the lives of our students.”
